INCOMPLETES, WITHDRAWALS, REPEAT SUBJECTS, REMEDIAL WORK,
LEAVES OF ABSENCE, AND MAKE-UP POLICIES

Incomplete Grades

A student unable to complete a portion of a course due to special or mitigating circumstances not
related to disciplinary action may receive an Incomplete (“I”) grade for the course. That portion of
the class missed must be completed during the following term. On completion, the Incomplete
grade will be substituted with a final letter grade. If the student fails to complete the course, the
grade will be changed to “F.”

To receive an Incomplete grade, the student must submit a written petition to his or her instructor,
who will then present it to the Campus Director. The Campus Director is the only person authorized
to grant Incomplete grades.

A student who receives a grade of Incomplete is allowed to re-enroll in the program during the next academic quarter following the date that the student with draws and completes the subject(s) with
out payment of additional tuition.

Withdrawals

A grade of “W” (Withdraw) will be assigned when a student is with drawn from school or from
a course before the final day of the course. On re-enrollment in school, or in the individual
course, and upon completion of the course, the student’s earned final grade will be used in
the calculation of the cumulative grade point average. All course attempts count in the total
number of credits attempted.

Repeated Subjects

A student who receives a grade of “F” or “W” must repeat the entire course to graduate from
the program. Full tuition will be charged for any course that is repeated. Course prices are listed
in the Supplemental Pages.

Remedial Work

MediaTech Institute does not offer remedial education for any program or for any class.

Leave of Absence

An “L” grade (Leave of Absence) will be assigned when a student is granted a leave of absence
before the final day of a course. Upon the student’s return from leave of absence and completion
of the course, the student’s earned final grade will be used in the calculation of the cumulative grade
point average. Students must submit a request for leave of absence in writing to the Campus
Director
. In a 12-month calendar period, a student may have no more than two leaves of absence,
the sum of which may not exceed one hundred eighty calendar days in length. The Campus
Director
will approve or deny all leave of absence requests.

Make-Up Policy

Students who receive or are approaching a failing grade in a course (69% or less) may, at the
discretion of the instructor, be allowed to retake the graded portion (lab, quiz, test, etc.) of the
class that caused the failing grade. The highest score a student may receive on the retaken
portion (lab, quiz, test, etc.) is 70%. The student must obtain a written permission from the instructor
and attend a supervised weekend Make-up Day session. Students who miss lab work, tests,
quizzes, or other assignments due to absences are permitted to make-up the work they missed at
a Make-up Day session within the current quarter. Make-up Days will be scheduled several times
during each quarter, are announced in each class, and are posted in advance on the Student Bulletin Board. Make-up or class work will not be accepted after the last day of the course. This Make-up
policy will not remove or excuse an absence.
